Leider war das Jahr 2023 nicht das beste für unsere Msumari-Zucht und unsere geliebten Basenjis, aber wir sind dankbar, dass wir einen bezaubernden Wurf mit 5 Tri-Welpen großgezogen haben, die wundervolle und fürsorgliche Zuhause gefunden haben! ❤️
Angesichts all der traurigen Ereignisse in unseren Familien und im Leben unserer Freunde sind wir glücklich, dass wir Vierbeiner gesund sind.
Wir sind dankbar, dass wir uns so sehr lieben, ein warmes und gemütliches Zuhause haben, genug Essen für uns und die Hunde und dass wir hier ein friedliches Leben führen!

Unfortunatly 2023 have not been the best for our Msumari‘s breeding and our beloved Basenjis, but we are thankful, that we have raised a lovely litter of 5 tri treasures, who found wonderful and caring homes!❤️
And looking at all the sad things happening around us in our families and our friends lifes, we are happy that we humans are healthy so far and we are thankful, that we love each other so much, that we have a warm and cozy home, enough food for us and the doggies and that we are having a peaceful life here!
We wish you all the very best and we are sending positive thoughts and vibes to the universe for a wonderful, healthy and peaceful Happy New Year 2024 ❤️

Thaiya gewinnt Puppy BIS-2!

Die kleine 6 Monate alte „Thaiya“ hat ihre Hundemama Silke und uns hier bei Msumari’s Basenjis sehr stolz gemacht, indem sie den zweiten Platz in der Welpenklasse (BIS-2 Puppy) auf der Pointerli X-Mas Trophy CAC Windhundausstellung in der Schweiz unter der Richterin Frau Evelyne Desquartiers (F) gewonnen hat!
Es ist nicht ganz einfach, ein junges Basenji-Mädchen in einer sehr kalten Reithalle zu präsentieren und gegen all die liebenswerten Windhunde anzutreten. Wir freuen uns sehr über die Ergebnisse!

Thaiya wins Puppy BIS-2!

Little 6 month old „Thaiya“ made her humom Silke Hopf and us here at Msumari’s Basenjis very proud winning BIS-2 Puppy at the Pointerli X-Mas Trophy CAC Sighthound Show in Switzerland under judge Mrs. Evelyne Desquartiers (F)!
Not that easy to show a young Basenji girlie in a very cold riding hall and competing against all the lovely sighthounds and we are very happy about the results!

💔 Noué 💔

Wir sind am Boden zerstört…
Leider müssen wir bekanntgeben, dass wir den Msumari`s N-Wurf verloren haben 💔
Am Tag 64 ihrer Schwangerschaft, hatte ich ein sehr ungutes Gefühl, was Noué und Ihre Schwangerschaft angeht und bin zum Tierarzt, wo Noué sofort in den OP musste und eine Not-Kaiserschnitt gemacht werden musst…
Gott sei Dank hat mein großartiger Tierarzt Noués Leben gerettet, aber wir haben die beiden Welpen verloren..
Noué ist völlig verzweifelt und sucht ihre Welpen… sie kann nicht verstehen, was passiert ist… wir auch nicht°
Wir sind unbeschreiblich traurig und nur am Weinen…!
Ein schwarzer Tag in unserer Zucht! 💔

Our hearts are broken…
Unfortunatly we have to announce, that we have lost the Msumari`s N-Litter 💔
Yesterday, on day 64 of her pregnany, I had the feeling, that something is very wrong and I went to the vet, where Noué went to emergency c-section right away.
Thank god my great vet safed Noués life and she is recovering slowly now, but we lost the 2 puppies…
Noué is very desperate and searching her puppies… she can not understand, what happend… we can`t as well!
Our hearts are shattered, we are in tears…!
A black day in our breeding!💔

„Jiza“ gewinnt Minor Puppy Best in Show in Genf !!!

„Jiza“ was shown at CACIB Geneva on sunday, 19.11.23 and won Minor Puppy Best in Show out of 21 beautiful babies under judge Eddie Patterson from Ireland.
What a great success for „Jiza“ and her owner Susanne!
It was only her second time in the ring with 5,5 month old.
So very proud of them!

Die DNA-Tests des Msumari`s M-Wurfs sind endlich da!

Was lange wärt, wird endlich gut…
Mein Msumari’s M-Wurf war ein Wurf mit zwei Vätern, und natürlich musste für alle Welpen ein DNA-Profil erstellt werden.
Die Backenabstriche wurden vom Tierarzt im Alter von 7 Wochen genommen. Diese Proben, zusammen mit der Probe von Mama „Youhko“, wurden an das Labor geschickt, die beiden Väter waren bereits getestet worden.
Leider wurde mir nach etwa 4 Wochen mitgeteilt, dass alle Proben nicht analysiert werden konnten.
Das Labor sowie der Tierarzt waren ratlos und konnten keine Erklärung dafür finden!
Inzwischen waren die Welpen bereits in ihren neuen Familien angekommen.
Also mussten nun alle neuen Besitzer einen weiteren Abstrich von ihrem eigenen Tierarzt machen lassen, der an dasselbe Labor geschickt wurde.
Wiederum Wochen später, hat bei einem der Welpen und bei Mama „Youhko“ der Abstrich wieder nicht funktioniert, sodass letztendlich Blut abgenommen werden musste, um die DNA zu bestimmen.
Es war alles etwas chaotisch und hat sehr lange gedauert, aber am Ende haben wir alles geklärt.
Vielen Dank an alle geduldigen Welpenkäufer, ihr seid die Besten!
Und das Ergebnis:
Wie wir bereits vermutet hatten, basierend auf ihrem Aussehen, stammen alle Welpen vom Rüden, der zuerst gedeckt hat,
„Nzambe“ – Ch. Blackstar & Taji Strike Lightening Upon Asthenia im Besitz von Irena Peštová & Lucie Junová.
Obwohl die Doppelpaarung nicht erfolgreich war, werde ich es vielleicht in der Zukunft erneut versuchen, wenn ich zwei geeignete Partner für meine Hündin finde. Ich finde es spannend und wenn es funktioniert, wie es in meiner Zucht in der Vergangenheit der Fall war, habe ich zwei Väter in einem Wurf!

The DNA Tests of the Msumari`s M-Wurf are finally here!

What takes long, finally turns out well…
My Msumari’s M litter was a double sired litter and of course a DNA profile had to be done for all puppies.
Cheek swabs were taken by the veterinarian at the age of 7 weeks. These samples, along with the sample from the mommy „Youhko“ were sent to the laboratory, the two males had been tested already.
Unfortunately, after about 4 weeks, I was informed that all samples couldn’t be analyzed.
The laboratory, as well as the veterinarian were puzzled and had no explanation why!
Meanwhile, the puppies had already arrived in their new homes.
So now, all new owners had to to another swab test taken by their own vet, which was sent to the same laboratory.
Again, weeks later, for one of the puppies and the mommy „Youhko“ the swab didn’t work, so ultimately, blood had to be taken to determine the DNA.
It was a bit of a mess and took a very long time, but in the end, we managed to sort everything out.
Thank so much to all my patient puppy buyers, you are the best!

As we already „suspected“ by their look, all puppies are from the male who mated first,

Even though the double mating wasn’t successful, I might try it again sometime in the future if I find two suitable partners for my female, as I think itˋs an exciting thing to do and if it works out, like it did in my breeding in the past, I have to fathers in one litter!

Wir erwarten den Msumari`s N-Wurf am 05.12.2023!

„Noué“ hat es mal wieder extrem spannende und aufregend für uns gemacht…
AM 9. Tag ihrer Läufigkeit hat sie uns mit einem extrem hohen Progesteron-Wert überrascht, so dass wir um 22h sofort los mussten und die ganze Nacht durchgefahren sind um nach 850km morgens um 6:30h beim Rüden in Polen zu sein.
Ch. Bahaticca`s On-Line aka „Lenny“ aus der bekannten Zucht von Alicja Paździerkiewicz im Eigentum ihr selber und ihrer Schwester Martyna Nowak hat sofort gedeckt und keine Stunde und ein paar schöne Fotos später waren wir schon wieder auf dem langen Heimweg.
„Lenny“ ist ein überaus gechillter, knapp 3-jähriger Rüde, der schon sehr schönen Nachwuchs gebracht hat.
„Noué“ und „Lenny“ sind sich, wie man auf den Fotos ja auch erkennen kann, sehr ähnlich im Typ.
Dies ist aber auch kein Wunder, gehen beide doch zurück auf den wunderbaren und berühmten „Faro“ (Multi-Ch. Faraoland Point Taken).
Aus dieser Verpaarung erwarten wir Welpen in rot-weiß in einer super Größe, tollem Fell, herausragendem Exterieur und super Gangwerk und, was uns am Wichtigsten ist, einem super tollen, relaxten und verschmusten Wesen!

We`re planning the Msumari`s N-Litter in autumn/winter 2023/2024!

„Noué“ once again made it extremely thrilling and exciting for us…
On the 9th day of her heat, she surprised us with an extremely high progesterone level, so we had to leave immediately at 10 p.m. and drive all night to be in Poland at the males home after 850 km at 6:30 a.m.
Ch. Bahaticca’s On-Line aka „Lenny“ from the well-known kennel of Alicja Paździerkiewicz, owned by her and her sister Martyna Nowak, immediately mated „Noué,“ and just an hour later, after some beautiful photos, we were already on our way back home.
„Lenny“ is an extremely chilled, almost 3-year-old male who has already produced some very beautiful offspring.
As you can see in the photos, „Noué“ and „Lenny“ are very similar in type, which is no wonder since both of them are going back to the wonderful and famous „Faro“ (Multi-Ch. Faraoland Point Taken).
From this mating, we expect puppies in red and white, in a great size, with fantastic coats, outstanding exterieur, excellent movement, and, most important for us, a fantastic, relaxed, and affectionate temperament!

Thao gewinnt das Rennen in Inzing (A)!

Wir haben am 13.08.2023 am gut organisierten Rennen auf der wunderschönen Rennbahn (mit einer super Aussicht) in Inzing (A) teilgenommen, wo „Thao“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari’s Kya Kythao) sein erstes offizielles Rennen hatte, zusammen mit seiner Mama „Youhko“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari’s Fayouhko) und „Noué“ (Multi-Ch. Msumariˋs Dayo Younoué).
Nun ja… ein junger, zweijähriger Rüde gegen seine 5,5 Jahre alte Mama, die gerade Welpen hatte, und eine 7,5 Jahre alte Hündin…
Ratet mal, wer gewonnen hat…

Platz 1: „Thao“ mit 35,47 sec (390m), CCLA und neuer Streckenrekord für Rüden
Platz 2: „Noué“ mit 38,98 sec (390m) und neuer Streckenrekord für Hündinnen
Platz 3 „Youhko“ mit 39,62 sec (390m)

Wir trafen auch den wunderbaren „Yagoh“ (Msumari’s Hyo HˋYagoh) und seine Besitzer Laura und Mārcis.
„Yagoh“ durfte ebenfalls laufen und absolvierte 2 inoffizielle Fun-Sololäufe, wobei er gegen „Youhli“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari’s Bayouhli) & „Minouh“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari’s Aza Aminouh) gewann, die ebenfalls viel Spaß auf der Rennbahn hatten!

Es war ein wundervoller und sehr heißer Tag auf der Rennbahn, aber dank der großartigen Organisation war es möglich, beide Läufe in der Früh vor der großen Hitze zu absolvieren!
Nach dem Rennen sind wir der Hitze im Tal enflohen und in die Berge auf 1600m gefahren, wo wir alle gemeinsam eine schöne Zeit in einer Berghütte verbracht haben!

Thao gewinnt das Rennen in Inzing (A)!

We attended the well organized race at the beautiful track (with a super view) at Inzing (A) on 13.08.2023, where „Thao“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari’s Kya Kythao) had his first official race, together with his mommy „Youhko“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari’s Fayouhko) and „Noué“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari ˋs Dayo Younoué)
Well… a young 2 year old male against his 5,5 year old mommy who just had puppies and a 7,5 year old female… guess the winner…

First place: „Thao“ with 35,47 sec (390m), CCLA and new track record for males
Secod place: „Noué“ with 38,98 sec (390m) and new track record for females
Third Place: „Youhko“ with 39,62 sec (390m)

We met as well lovely „Yagoh“ (Msumari’s Hyo HˋYagoh) and his owners Laura and Mārcis.
„Yagoh“ was allowed to run as well and he did 2 fun solo runs, winning against „Youhli“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari’s Bayouhli) & „Minouh“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari’s Aza Aminouh), who had a lot of fun at the track as well!

It was a wonderful and very hot day at the track, but thanks to the great organization, we managed to do both runs in the morning before the super heat!
After the race, we escaped the heat driving up to the mountains to 1600m, where we had a lovely time all together at an alpin restaurant!

Msumari`s Basenji Treffen 2023

Am Samstag, den 29.07.2023, fand das Msumari’s Basenji Treffen auf der Rennbahn in Mertingen statt!

32 Menschen mit 25 Basenjis und 2 Nicht-Bs kamen, um sich uns anzuschließen, und wow… was für ein toller Tag wir hatten…!

Das Treffen begann um 14 Uhr mit starkem Regen und Gewitter, aber Dank des großen Zeltes, das das Team von der Rennbahn aufgebaut hatte, blieben die meisten von uns einigermaßen trocken.
Um 15 Uhr hörte der Regen auf, und wir hatten perfektes Wetter für unser gemütliches Beisammensein und um die Hunde laufen zu lassen!

Wir konnten 4 perfekte Läufe mit zwei vollen Feldern von je 6 Basenjis mit Lizenz machen… wie spektakulär!
Auch alle anderen hatten großen Spaß bei der Jagd nach dem Hasen, und wir hatten einige sehr talentierte Neulinge auf der Rennbahn!
Jazouh (J-Ch. Msumari’s Jam Jazouh) bestand ihre Solo-Lizenzläufe und machte ihre Besitzer sind super stolz auf sie!

Während der Pause bot das Team der Rennbahn Kuchen und Kaffee an, und nach den zweiten Läufen hatten wir einleckeres Barbecue mit viel Gesprächen rund um den Basenji!

Die 5 Welpen des Msumari’s M-Wurfs waren ebenfalls dabei, und sie wurden von allen Menschen geknuddelt, trafen andere Basenjis und große Windhunde und machten ihre erste Gehversuche auf der Rennbahn!
Es war eine so wundervolle Zeit, ein schönes Zusammensein, und ich möchte mich bei allen bedanken, die gekommen sind und dabei waren (einige von sehr weit weg), Danke für die tolle Hilfe bei der Organisation dieses Treffens und dafür, dass ihr alle diesen Tag so besonders gemacht habt!

Es war 23 Uhr, als wir die Rennbahn verließen, und ich möchte meinem besten Ehemann Andreas für alles ein großes Danke sagen – ich liebe dich!
Ein großes Dankeschön auch an das Team der Rennbahn,  Anja und Helmut (der beste Mann am Hasenzug) für die tolle Möglichkeit uns zu Treffen!

Msumari`s Basenji Treffen 2023

On Saturday, 29.07.2023 the Msumari`s Basenji Meeting was held at the racetrack at Mertingen!

32 humans with 25 Basenjis and 2 non Bs came to join us and wow… what a great day we had…!

The meeting started at 14h with a heavy rain and thunderstorm, but thanks to the big tent, the team from the track had build up, most of us stayed pretty dry.
At 15h, the rain stopped and we had perfect weather for our come together and to let the dogs run!

We were able to make 4 perfect runs with two full fields of 6 Basenjis with licence… how spectacular!
All others had big fun as well hunting the lure, and we had some very talented first timers at the track!
Jazouh (J-Ch. Msumari`s Jam Jazouh) passed her solo licence runs and made her humans very proud!

During the break, the team of the track offered cake and coffee and after the second runs, we had a super barbeque with lots of Basenjitalks!

The 5 puppies of the Msumari`s M-Litter have been with us as well and they all got cuddles by all people, met other Bs and huge sighthounds and they made their first babysteps at the track!
It was such a wonderful time, a lovely come together and I want to thank all for coming and joining us (some from very far away), for the great help in organizing this meeting and making this day so special!

It was 11pm when we left the track and I want to say a huge thanks to best hubby Andreas for everything – I love you!
Huge thanks as well to the team of the track, means Anja and Helmut (the best man ever at the lure) for making this possible!

Der Msumari`s M-Wurf ist geboren

Am frühen Abend des 03.06.23 ist „Youhko“ unruhig geworden und nachdem am Morgen die Temperatur schon gefallen war, waren wir bestens vorbereitet auf die Ankunft der M-Welpen.
2 tricolor Hündinnen und 3 tricolor Rüden werden von nun an die nächsten zwei Monate unser Leben bestimmen!
Wir freuen uns sehr!
Im Anschluss gibt es ein paar Fotos aus der Wurfkiste und von nun an wird das M-Wurf Tagebuch täglich aktualisiert!

Msumari`s M-Litter

On the early evening of June 3rd, 2023, „Youhko“ became restless, and after the temperature had dropped in the morning, we were well prepared for the arrival of the M puppies.
From now on, 2 tricolor females and 3 tricolor males will dominate our lives for the next two months!
We are thrilled!

„THAO“ ist neuer kroatischer Champion!

Wir waren auf der kalten, regnerischen und sehr nassen Ausstellung in Varaždin (HR) und kehren mit einem neuen Champion-Titel für „Thao“ nach Hause!

Ch. Msumari’s Kya Kythao war an beiden Tagen in der Champion Klasse der männlichen Champions gemeldet und erhielt am 13.05.23 (12 Basenjis gemeldet) ein V.1 & Res-CACIB unter der Richterin Frau Aída L. Rivera Franco (COL) und am 14.05.23 (12 Basenjis gemeldet) ein V.1, CAC, CACIB und wurde BOB und kam im Ehrenring unter die  letzten 5 unter dem Richter Herr Bratislav Milošević (SRB)!

„Thao“ ist nun neuer kroatische Champion!

Unser wunderschöner Kerl, der im Juni erst zwei Jahre alt wird, ist nun bereits deutscher, schweizerischer, slowenischer und österreichischer Juniorenchampion. Außerdem ist er schweizerischer, bosnischer & herzegowinischer, slowenischer und kroatischer Champion und steht auf der Warteliste für den deutschen Champion VDH & Club sowie den Internationalen Champion!

Wir sind sehr stolz auf ihn!

„THAO“ ist neuer kroatischer Champion!

We have been at the cold and rainy and very wet show at Varaždin (HR) and we are coming home with a new champion title for „Thao“!

Ch. Msumari’s Kya Kythao was entered on both days in Male Champion Class and got Exc.1 & Res-CACIB under judge Mrs. Aída L. Rivera Franco (COL) on 13.05.23 (12 Basenjis entered) and Exc.1, CAC, CACIB and BOB and with the last 5 in the main ring under judge Mr. Bratislav Milošević (SRB) on 14.05.23 (12 Basenjis entered)!

„Thao“ is now new Croatian Champion!

Our beautiful boy who will get two years in june is now already German, Suisse, Slovenian & Austrian Junior Champion and Suisse, Bosnia&Herzegovina, Slovenian and Croatian Champion and he is on the waiting list for the German Champion VDH & Club and the International Champion!

We are very proud of him!

An beiden Tagen bekam er in der offene Klasse der Rüden V1 & CAC und hat nun seinen ersten Erwachsenen-Champion-Titel!

Ch. Msumari’s Kya Kythao (*06.06.2021) wurde an 3 Tagen in der Zwischenklasse der Rüden und in der Champion Klasse bei der Gruppe 5 Spezielschau gezeigt, gewann 4 CACs, 2x CACIB und 3x BOS und hat nun mit nur 22 Monaten seinen dritten Erwachsenen-Championtitel erreicht!

J-Ch. Msumari’s Kya Kythazhu (*06.06.2021, Co-owned mit Desirée Charles) wurde bei allen 4 Shows in der offenen Klasse der Hündinnen gemeldet, wurde jedoch aufgrund von Zeitmangel nur bei 3 Shows gezeigt, aber mit wunderbaren Ergebnissen!
Sie erhielt 3x CAC und bei CACIB I (ihrer 10. Show) gewinnt sie unter Richter Rui Oliveira CACIB & BOB und hat nun ihren ersten Erwachsenen-Champion-Titel.
Im Ehrenring bei der CACIB I erläuft sie sich unter dem Richter Simon Rooney (IE) den ersten Platz und wird BOG-1
Und schließlich wurde diese kleine wilde Ding im Best in Show-Wettbewerb unter Richter Herrn Oliveira Best in Show-3!
Was für ein wundervoller Erfolg für unsere junge Hündin!

Ch. Msumari`s Kya Kythao (*06.06.2021) was shown 3 days in Male Intermediate Class and in Champion Class at Group 5 Specialty, won 4 CACs, 2x CACIB and 3x BOS and gained now with only 22 month his third adult championtitle!
„Thazhu“
J-Ch. Msumari`s Kya Kythazhu (*06.06.2021, owned by Desirée Charles, co-owned by me) was entered all 4 shows in Female Open Class but was shown due to lack of time only 3 shows but with wonderful results!
She got 3x CAC and at CACIB I (her 10th show) she won under judge Rui Oliveira CACIB & BOB and she gained now her first adult champion title.
In the main ring at CACIB I she catched the eye of judge Simon Rooney (IE) who placed her Best of Group!
And finally in the Best in Show competition this little wild lady was placed BIS-3 by Mr. Oliveira!
What a wonderful success for our young girl!
I am a very happy breeder/co-owner/handler!

„Youhko“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari`s Fayouhko) wurde erfolgreich am 05.04.2023 bei einer Doppelbelegung von zwei Rüden belegt und wir erwarten den Msumari`s M-Wurf am 07.06.2023
Wenn wir Glück haben, dann bekommen wir Welpen von beiden Rüden in den Farben tricolor und rot-weiß!
Wenn Sie sich für einen Welpen aus unserer Zucht interessieren, dann melden Sie sich bitte rechtzeitig, kommen Sie uns besuchen, lernen Sie uns kennen und stellen sich bei uns vor.

„Youhko“ wurde gedeckt von:

Beide Rüden haben ein wundervolles Wesen und sie sind super liebe und gesunde Jungs, mit wunderschönem Aussehen!
Mit „Shifu“, gehen wir in beiden zurück auf unsere wundervolle „Minouh“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari’s Aza Aminouh), die ein einzigartiges Wesen und Aussehen hat!
„Nzambe“ hat als erstes gedeckt, da wir auf tricolor Welpen hoffen aber wir sind natürlich gespannt, ob wir wieder Welpen von beiden Rüden bekommen!
Wenn dem so ist, dann ist das die erste reine Msumari`s Kombination von Hündin und Rüde und wir sind schon sehr gespannt auf diesen Wurf!

Hier noch ein paar Infos:
Durch eine Doppelbelegung kommt es zu einer höheren genetischen Diversität  innerhalb einer Wurfs. Das ist für seltene Rassen immer ein Zugewinn. Man kann mit einem Wurf erreichen, wofür es sonst 2 Würfe braucht.
Des Weiteren ist es eine „Absicherung“ für den Erfolg eines Wurfes, wenn ein älterer oder jüngerer unerfahrener Rüde deckt. Das Risiko, dass ein Wurf nicht klappt kann dadurch ausgeglichen werden.
In frei lebenden Hunderudeln – so etwas gibt es allerdings meist nur unter Streunern im Süden – sind Mehrfachbelegungen hundetypisch. Um die Art zu erhalten, mit möglichst sicherem Zuchterfolg und einer Genvielfalt innerhalb eines Wurfs hat die Natur dies so eingerichtet.
In Deutschland wurden bisher noch nicht so viele Doppelbelegungen bei allen Rassen durchgeführt.
Dr. Helga Eichelberg, die Ehrenvorsitzende der Gesellschaft zur Förderung
Kynologischer Forschung (GKF) e.V. mit der ich in direktem Kontakt stehe, macht eine Studie zu dieser Thematik, an der wir mit unseren beiden Würfen teilnehmen werden.
Ich selber bin natürlich auch extrem gespannt, ob die Doppelbelegungen geklappt haben und ob tatsächlich auch jeweils Welpen von beiden Rüden geboren werden.
Ob dies dann auch der Fall ist, wird kurz vor der Wurfabnahme mittels DNA Test festgestellt werden.
Auch wenn es sehr viel zu organisieren war, auch wenn ich höhere Deckgebühren habe und durch die Gentests ziemliche Mehrkosten und höhere Kosten beim Tierarzt habe denke ich, dass eine Doppelbelegung einer Rasse mit kleiner Wurfstärke und kleiner Population immer zuträglich ist!

Msumari`s M-Litter – A new adventure has started!

„Youhko“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari`s Fayouhko) was double sired sucessfully on 05.04.2023 by two males and we are expecting the Msumari`s M-Litter on 07.06.2023
If we are lucky, we are getting puppies of both sires in the colours tricolor and red-white!

Both sires have wonderful temperaments and they are super happy tailwagging boys in good health and beautiful appearance!
With „Shifu“, we are going back in both to our wonderful „Minouh“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari’s Aza Aminouh), who is one of a kind concerning temperament and beauty!
„Nzambe“ was the first who mated, as we are hoping for tricolor puppies, but we are curious of the outcome and if we will get puppies again of both sires!
If so, this would be the first Msumari’s combination of dam and sire and are very excited about this litter!

Here are some more infos:
Dual sired litters results in a higher genetic diversity within a litter. This is always an asset for rare breeds. It is possible to achieve with one litter what it would normally take 2 litters. Furthermore, it is a „safeguard“ for the success of a litter if an older or younger inexperienced male mates. The risk that a litter will not happen can be compensated for. In free-living dog packs – something like this usually only occurs among strays in the south – multiple occupancies are typical for dogs. This is what nature does to be successful.
In Germany, there are still not that many dual-sired litters in all breeds.
Dr. Helga Eichelberg, the honorary chairwoman of the Society for the Promotion of Cynological Research (GKF) eV and with who I am in contact with is doing a study on this topic, and we are happy to take part with our two litters.
Of course, I am extremely curious to see, if the double mating was successful and if we will really get puppies of 2 males in each litter.
We have to do a DNA test before the puppies will be registered.
Even it was a lot to organize, even I have higher stud fees and the genetic tests mean additional costs and higher costs at the vet, I think that a dual-sired litter in a breed with small litter size and a small population is always beneficial!

Wir haben einen neuen Deckrüden bei Msumari’s Basenjis ❤️
Der wunderschöne „Shifu“, im Besitz von Darina Tsokolaeva, hat alle Gesundheitstests bestanden und die Zuchterlaubnis des Deutschen Basenji Clubs erhalten.
Er steht nun als Deckrüde zur Verfügung.
Aufgrund der Pandemie und Zeitmangels wurde er in der Vergangenheit nur sehr selten gezeigt, aber im letzten Sommer hat er seine deutsche Champion-Karriere begonnen und immer ein V.1 in den drei Shows, bei denen er vorgestellt wurde bekommen.

Wir sind zurück von unserem letzten Ausstellungsabenteuer!
Einmal mehr haben wir am bekanntesten und größten Sowevent „Crufts“ teilgenommen, bei dem die Basenjis von Kim Ellis (UK) am Samstag, 11.03.2023 gerichtet wurden.
4 meiner Basenjis waren bei einer Gesamtzahl von 79 Basenjis gemeldet und wir hatten tolle Erfolge!

„Thao“ (Ch. Msumari’s Kya Kythao) war in der Offenen Klasse der Rüden gemeldet und wurde mit „Very Highly Recommended“ und Platz 5 belohnt.
„Noué“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari’s Dayo Younoué) war in der Veteranenklasse der Hündinnen gemeldet , wurde zweite und ihre Mama „Youhli“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari’s Bayouhli) wurde dritte.
„Youhko“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari’s Fayouhko) wurde in der Offenen Klasse der Hündinnen gezeigt, kam unter die letzten 8, wurde aber nicht platziert.
WIe immer war es ein tolles Event und es ist immer grandios, auf dem grünen Teppich zu laufen und viele Freunde wieder zu sehen.
Crufts ist immer eine Reise wert!

Nach der Show haben wir noch ein paar wunderbare Tage im Süden Englands verbracht und tolle Plätze besucht!

We are back home from our latest show adventure!
Once more we attended the largest show event „CRUFTS“ where the Basenjis have been judged by Kim Ellis (UK) on saturday, 11.03.2023
4 of my own Basenjis have been entered amongst 79 Basenjis and we had lovely results!

„Thao“ (Ch. Msumari’s Kya Kythao) was entered in Male Open Class and was Very Highly Recommended with his 5th place out of 19 males!
„Noué“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari’s Dayo Younoué) was entered in Female Veteran Class and got second, her mommy „Youhli“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari’s Bayouhli) wonderful shown by my dear friend Dorota was placed third!
„Youhko“ (Multi-Ch. Msumari’s Fayouhko) was shown in Female Open Class and was selected with the last 8, but not placed.

As always, it was a very special adventure, showing on the green carpet in England and it was wonderful, to see lots of friends again!
Crufts is always worth a visit!

After the show we did spend some lovely days in the south of England and visited great places.

BECAUSE BREEDING IS AS WELL CARING…!

Weil ich immer wieder gefragt werde…
Nein, ich habe diese Wintersaison 2022/2023 trotz Planung keinen Wurf gemacht..
Warum?
Weil ich im Vorfeld nicht genügend gute Anfragen nach einem Welpen habe.
Weil ich mich verantwortlich fühle, wenn ich Leben in diese Welt setze.
Weil ich nicht jeden, der mir schreibt oder anruft als passenden Basenjibesitzer einschätze.
Weil ich sehr deutlich bin und potentielle Interessenten über die Eigenheiten der Rasse aufkläre und einige dieser Menschen dann erkennen, dass diese Rasse nicht für sie geeignet ist.
Weil ich denke, dass der Basenji kein Hund für jedermann ist.

Mir ist bewusst, dass meine Zeilen bei manchen Züchtern und Interessenten nicht gut ankommt.

Ich finde aber, wir sind es unseren Basenji schuldig, denn sie sind die Leidtragenden, wenn sie zu Wanderpokale (nach der Pandemie) werden, was man jetzt ja schon ganz deutlich in den einschlägigen Tierannoncen und den sozialen Medien sehen kann…
In den vergangenen Jahren wurde sehr viel gezüchtet, viele Basenjis wurden aus dem Ausland importiert, ohne dass eine vernünftige Aufklärung über die Rasse gemacht wurde!
Mittlerweile sind fast wöchentlich Basenjis auf der Suche nach einem neuen Zuhause, meist haben sie gravierende (Verhaltens-)Probleme, sind aggressiv, haben nie Grenzen kennengelernt und ähnliches.

Bis ein Basenji familientauglich ist, ist es ein langer und oft steiniger Weg, denn ein Basenjiwelpe kommt nicht fertig erzogen in die Welt und in seine Familie.
Es erfordert extrem viel Zeit und Energie, Konsequenz und Verantwortungsbewusstsein, einem Basenji ein passendes Zuhause für die Zeit seines Lebens – zwischen 12-16 Jahren – zu geben!
Basenjiwelpen werden an Familien mit Kleinkindern abgegeben, obwohl die Züchter eigentlich wissen sollten, dass der Hund oft unterfordert und die Halter überfordert sein werden.Die Zeit, die man dem Hund widmet, fehlt dem Kind und umgekehrt. Basenjis werden an Menschen verkauft, die nicht genügend Zeit haben, den Basenji körperlich wie geistig auszulasten, die den Basenji stundenlang alleine lassen und sich dann wundern, dass der Basenji zerstört und verhaltensauffällig wird.
Über Spätfolgen einer falschen Platzierung machen sich viele Züchter keine Gedanken, Hauptsache der Rubel rollt, bzw. der Welpe ist aus dem Haus.

War die Nachfrage nach Welpen während der Pandemie extrem groß, so kommt es jetzt, wie zu befürchten war, zum große Erwachen bei den Menschen, die sich unüberlegt einen Basenji angeschafft haben und keine Zeit oder Lust mehr auf den Hund haben.
Dazu kommen explodierende Energiepreise, gestiegene Futterkosten und höhere Tierarztgebühren.
Und so wird der unüberlegt angeschaffte Basenji einfach wieder abgegeben.
Die Tierheime platzen aus allen Nähten und wissen oft nicht mehr weiter.
Züchter aller Rassen bleiben auf ihren Welpen sitzen und überall im Internet findet man Züchter, die händeringend nach Plätzen für ihre Welpen suchen.
Und so werden sie oft an absolut ungeeignete Menschen verkauft oft sogar verschenkt und werden so ebenfalls zu den Hunden, die wir jetzt schon zuhauf in den einschlägigen Portalen finden.

Ich finde dies eine sehr schlimme Situation und ich hoffe sehr, dass all diese vielen Basenjiwelpen, die momentan zum Verkauf stehen am Ende doch noch ein gutes Zuhause finden!
Allerdings zweifle ich daran, weil es Züchter gibt, die Würfe machen, ohne dass sie vorher Reservierungen haben. Ich frage mich, wie sie für all diese Welpen passende Zuhause innerhalb von 8-12 Wochen finden…!

Meine Basenjihündinnen haben seit 2009 in 12 Würfen 45 Basenjiwelpen das Leben geschenkt.
Keiner dieser Welpen musste bisher seine Familie verlassen und neu platziert werden! Alle Besitzer sind glücklich mit ihren Hunden!
Alle sagen, dass es sehr wichtig war, dass sie über die Eigenheiten der Rasse von mir gut informiert wurden.
Alle sagen, dass es am Anfang trotz dieses Wissens zum Teil schwierig war!

Basenjis sind eine wunderbare Rasse, aber man muss wissen, wie sie sind!

Bitte, liebe Züchterkollegen, klären Sie ihre Welpeninteressenten über diese wunderbare Rasse auf und platzieren Sie nicht wahllos!
Bitte liebe Welpeninteressenten, informieren Sie sich über diese Rasse!
Fragen Sie sich, ob ein Basenji in ihre Lebensplanung der nächsten 12-16 Jahre passt!
Ein Basenji ist ein Familienmitglied auf Lebenszeit!

BECAUSE BREEDING IS AS WELL CARING…!

Because I keep getting asked…
No, I didn’t make a litter this winter season despite my litter plans..
Why?
Because I did not have enough good requests for my puppies in advance.
Because I feel responsible when I breed and give life into this world.
Because not every person who calls or writes is on my list as a super new home.
Because I am very strict and educate potential buyers about the peculiarities of the breed and some realize then, that this breed is not suitable for them.
Because I think the Basenji is not a dog for everyone!
I am aware that my post will not be liked by some of you out there.
But I think we owe it to our Basenjis, because they are the ones who suffer when they become challenge cups (after the pandemic), which you can already see quite clearly in the relevant animal advertisements and in social media…
A lot has been bred in recent years, many Basenjis have been bought, some of them imported/exported, and a lot of them without any proper education being given about the breed!
Some breeders have never seen or talked their puppy buyers personally.
In the meantime, Basenjis are looking for a new home almost every week, mostly they have serious (behavioral) problems, are aggressive, have never known limits ect.
But it is a long and rocky road until a Basenji is family-friendly, because a Basenji puppy is not brought into the world and into its family fully trained.
It takes a lot of time and energy, consistency and a sense of responsibility to educate a Basenji and to give a Basenji a suitable home for the time of his life – between 12-16 years!
Basenji puppies are given to families with toddlers or young children, although breeders should know that the dog will often be underwhelmed and the owners overwhelmed.
The time you spend with the dog is missed by the child and vice versa.
Basenjis are sold to people who don’t have enough time over all and not enough time to exercise the Basenji physically and mentally. People who leave the Basenji alone for hours and then they wonder why the Basenji becomes destructive and is getting behaving issues.
Some breeders don’t worry about the long-term consequences of a wrong placement. It`s more important that the puppies is out of the house and the money is earned.
While the demand for (Basenji) puppies was extremely high during the pandemic, now, as expected, there is a great awakening among people who have bought a Basenji and no longer have the time or desire for the dog.
In addition, the energy prices are going higher and higher, increased feed costs and higher veterinary fees.
Then, all of a sudden, the thoughtlessly purchased Basenji is not wanted anymore and given back.
Animal shelters are full of poor dogs of all breeds and mixes and they don’t know what to do.
Breeders of all breeds are stuck with their puppies and all over the internet you will find breeders desperately looking for places for their puppies of all breeds.
Means that they are often sold to absolutely unsuitable people, often even given away for free and they often become the dogs that we already find in the relevant portals in the internet.
I think this is a very sad situation and I really hope that all these Basenji puppies that are currently for sale will find good homes in the end!
But I really doubt this, specially cause there are breeders out there making litters with obviously no reservations at all in advance…
I wonder, how they can find suitable homes for all puppies in such a short time of 8-12 weeks…!
My Basenji girls have given birth to 45 Basenji puppies in 12 litters since 2009.
I took a huge of effort in creating a homepage with lots of infos about the breed and I tell everybody to read it carefully!
And everybody has to come and visit us, meet my pack and us personally before a decision is made of both sides.
This is nowadays often to much trouble for a lot of people in times, where you can purchase a puppy delivered from door to door!
But this are not the people I want for my puppies anyway.
None of the 45 puppies I have bred had to leave their families so far!
All owners are happy with their dogs!
Everybody gave me the feedback that it was very important that I informed them so well and told them everything about the peculiarities of the breed.
Everyone says that despite knowing this, it was sometimes difficult at the beginning!
And due to the lack of enough good requests for my planned litter, I cancelled for this season!
I feel very sorry for the ones, who have to wait now for the next season… and I am very happy about the ones who will wait now for one of my precious puppies!
I had several requests for my stud males as well, but due to the situation, I accepted only one mating, because I feel responsible for these puppies as well!
And no, I am not jealous of the ones, who have easily sold all their puppies, I am happy for you!
I just hope, they are all in good hands then!
The Basenji is a wonderful breed, but people have to know, how they are and what they get!
Please, dear breeders, tell those interested peoples out there the truth about this wonderful breed and do not place them indiscriminately!
Please, dear puppy prospects, get enough infos about this wonderful but not that easy breed!
Ask yourself if this is the right breed for you, ask yourself if a Basenji fits in your life plans for the next 12-16 years!
Because a Basenji and of course every dog should be a lifetime family member!

Due to the knows reasons no puppies at Msumari’s this season but we visited Fallouhs 4 beautiful tri kiddos in CZ in the kennel „At the Journey Man In“ of Tereza Kodýtková & her husband Filip!
They are doing such a wonderful job with mommy „Triss“ and these 4 beautiful little ones and it was so great to finally see them in real!
